Flash Tattoos

What is a flash tattoo?

Flash tattoos are designs the artists have already drawn and are ready to tattoo. If you like something on a current sheet, it's usually the quickest route from deciding to getting tattooed.

Flash is pre-drawn artwork. Rather than developing a design from your references, you pick from what's already been created, which removes the drawing stage from the process.

Sheets change as artists draw new work, so what's available shifts over time. Some designs are one-offs, others get tattooed more than once.

Design & placement

Design and placement considerations

Flash is drawn at a particular size and proportion, so placement is part of the choice — a design that suits a forearm may need adjusting for an ankle or behind the ear.

Small tweaks are often possible. Sizing, minor detail changes, or adapting the design to fit alongside existing tattoos are worth asking about.

If you want substantial changes to a flash design, it's usually cleaner to treat it as a custom piece instead.

Is it the right fit?

Is flash right for your idea?

  • You want to get tattooed sooner rather than later.
  • You're happy choosing from designs already drawn.
  • The piece is small to medium and fairly self-contained.
  • You don't need the design built around a specific reference.
  • You're adding to a collection rather than planning a centrepiece.

Working together

Working with a Synergy Body Art artist.

Ask the studio what's on the current sheets and whether the design you like can be adapted for your placement. If the answer is no, an artist can talk you through a custom version.

Flash availability is easiest to check by calling the Lakewood studio at Colorado Mills (inside Phenix Salon Suites) before you make the trip from Denver, Golden, Arvada, or Wheat Ridge.

Once you're booked, the appointment prep guide and tattoo aftercare guide cover the rest.

Flash Tattoos FAQ

What is a flash tattoo?

A flash tattoo is a design your artist has already drawn and is ready to tattoo. Instead of developing a custom piece from your references, you choose from the studio's current flash sheets. Flash is a quick, fun way to get tattooed, and you can see exactly what you're getting before you commit. View the current flash book from our Flash Tattoos page.

Can flash designs be modified?

Small changes are often possible, such as adjusting the size, placement or a minor detail. If you want to change the design significantly, it usually makes more sense to book a custom tattoo so the artist can draw something that fits your idea properly.

Are walk-in flash tattoos available?

Flash is often the best option for walk-ins, but availability depends on the day and which artists are in. Call 720-670-0827 before you come to Colorado Mills to check who is available, or book a time through the tattoo booking link.

How do I see the current flash designs?

Open the current flash book from our Flash Tattoos page, check our Instagram @synergybodyart for newly drawn designs, or ask at the studio. Flash sheets change as artists draw new work, so call ahead if you have your heart set on a specific design.

Is flash a good first tattoo?

It can be a great first tattoo. There's no design wait, sizes are usually manageable, and you can see exactly what the finished piece will look like before you commit. It is also an easy way to experience the process and get to know an artist before planning a bigger custom project.
